Lily loves building tiny leaf boats, and one sunny morning, she places her newest one on the pond. It floats beautifully. Max tries to copy her with a shiny pebble, but his pebble sinks right away. The two friends look at each other, puzzled. Why does one float while the other disappears beneath the water?
Curious to test it themselves, the kids try a simple experiment at home. They sprinkle pepper on water, then touch it with a soapy finger. The pepper instantly shoots away, and both of them gasp as the water’s “hug” breaks apart. Through this moment, they see how molecules pull together and let small, light things float.
